What Actually is Pollen Allergy?

Every year during spring, summer, and fall, small particles are spread everywhere from trees, weeds, and grasses. These tiny particles are called pollens. The pollens are spread to other plants for fertilization. This process is called Pollination. But most of these pollens, are unable to reach their real destination. These pollens are inhaled by human beings and may cause irritations in noses and throats resulting in pollen allergy. This seasonal allergic disease is also known as hay fever or rose fever. Today medical and health experts believe that pollen allergy is one of the most widespread diseases in the world.

How Pollen Allergy is Diagnosed?

Skin Tests: To diagnose pollen allergy your doctor would most likely take your skin test.  This will help to find whether you have become a victim of pollen allergy or not. This test is quite safe and also not complicated. You can get its results in the span of few minutes.
While taking your skin prick test, the allergist would make use of a needle so that he may place a very little amount of pollen extract beneath your skin’s surface at the lower arm or back. If, as a result, there is swelling or redness then it is a thing of big concern as you have become the victim of Pollen allergy.

Blood Tests: Some allergists prefer to take blood tests to diagnose this disease because this test is also quite helpful to check whether there is any sign or symptom of Pollen allergy or not.
